Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — More national polls are showing that pro-abortion President Barack Obama is hitting new low approval ratings. The polls come at a time when Obama’s health care plan, which contains abortion funding and coverage as well as rationing, is the subject of fierce opposition from most Americans.

The latest Zogby International poll shows just 45 percent of voters give Obama a positive approval rating, his lowest figure since taking over the White House in January.

Asked whether they approve or disapprove of Obama’s job performance, just 45.3 percent of likely voters say they approve. That compares with 50.5 percent who disapprove of the job Obama is doing.

Fox News analyst Dick Morris, a political strategist, commented on the new numbers to NewsMax.

"As soon as Obama dropped below 52 percent . . . he was leaking real voters who had backed him in November," Morris says. "Now that he is down to 45 percent among likely voters . . . he is in deep political trouble."

One key result from the poll is that Obama is now faring very poorly with the independent voters who propelled him to victory in November.

Just 37.5 percent of self-identified independents say they approve of how Obama is handling the presidency. That compares with 59.2 percent of independents who disapprove.

"There is nothing counterintuitive in any of these numbers," pollster John Zogby says of the new numbers. The president is clearly taken a slide — most especially with independent voters, who play such an important role in any legislation or policy support."

"Interestingly, the president had been making some inroads with groups like investors, and frequent Walmart shoppers . . . both typically conservative," Zogby says. "However, he has slipped considerably with them in this poll."

Zogby confirms the health care bill is the reason for Obama’s drop.

"The healthcare plan appears to be consolidating conservative opposition and scaring independent voters," he said.

"Clearly, the healthcare reform package is dragging him down," Morris tells Newsmax, "and will drag every Democrat down unless they realize that they cannot afford to alienate the elderly of America by cutting Medicare and rationing medical care."

The Zogby survey shows Obama doing well with Democrats, who give him a 83.9 percent approval rating, but Republicans give him just a 5.7 percent approval rating.

Meanwhile, the latest Gallup daily presidential approval tracking poll shows Obama with the support of just 51 percent of Americans compared with 42 percent who disapprove of his job performance.

Gallup tracks the opinion of registered voters instead of likely voters, which explains why its numbers typically trend higher for Obama.

Still, the 51 percent is his lowest since January and the 42 percent disapproval rating his highest. The Gallup graph of daily polls shows a steady decline for Obama and a steady rise in his disapproval numbers.
