Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — A national organization for pro-life college students has written President Barack Obama objecting to his administration’s calling people who oppose abortion terrorists. The Obama administration calls pro-life advocates violent and claims they employ racist overtones and engage in criminal actions.

Students for Life of America sent Obama a letter today on behalf of 492 college and university pro-life groups representing tens of thousands of college students.

"We are alarmed by your administration’s ignorance of who pro-lifers are and what we strive to accomplish," the letter, which SFLA furnished to LifeNews.com, reads.

It says the dictionary and the April report to police calling pro-life advocates right-wing extremists and terrorists "is a terribly inaccurate definition of who we really are."

The letter says pr-life advocates "are a collection of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents" who "come from all races, ethnic groups, social classes, and backgrounds."

"Because we believe that abortion is the murder of an innocent human child and irrevocably harms the mother of the child, this does not mean that we are racist, anti-Semitic, violent, or a threat to the United States of America," the SFLA letter says. "None of our mission statements include anything racist, anti-Semitic, violent, or disrespectful to the United States."

The letter says anyone who claims to be pro-life and engages in any acts of violence is not truly pro-life, but merely someone who may also happen to oppose abortion.

Students for Life of America asks Obama to promptly address the situation at the Department of Homeland Security, where members of the administration appear to have wrongful notions about the pro-life community.

"We ask that you speak to your administration officials and educate your employees about the goals of the pro-life movement seeks and how we seek to accomplish these goals," SFLA writes.

The group adds that it is willing to meet with Obama or his staff or administration to disabuse them of the notions found in the DHS documents.

The new document, known as the "Domestic Extremism Lexicon," is essentially a terrorism and political extremism dictionary for the Obama administration’s internal use.

It features numerous definitions and the headline "antiabortion extremism," appears on page two of the eleven-page manual.

The definition reads: "A movement of groups or individuals who are virulently antiabortion and advocate violence against providers of abortion-related services, their employees, and their facilities. Some cite various racist and anti-Semitic beliefs to justify their criminal activities."
