Pro-Abortion Actress Kathleen Turner Stumps for Obama Nominee Dawn Johnsen

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Actress Kathleen Turner is no stranger to promoting abortion, so it is only natural that the 1980s Hollywood starlet would promote one of President Barack Obama’s top pro-abortion nominations. Turner, who has been a board member of Planned Parenthood, is stumping for nominee Dawn Johnsen.
Dawn Johnsen is the Obama pick for Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Legal Counsel in the Obama administration.
She has drawn national criticism and was questioned during her Senate hearing on a legal paper she filed for NARAL, the pro-abortion group where she served as legal counsel, equating pregnancy to slavery.
As a board member of People For the American Way, Turner’s voice is on thousands of phone calls representing the pro-abortion group to turn out calls and emails on her behalf.
Starting today, residents of nine states will be receiving automated calls featuring her voice.
"Hello, I’m Kathleen Turner calling on behalf of People For the American Way. I’m asking you to join me in urging the Senate to confirm Dawn Johnsen," she says in the calls.
After denigrating former President George W. Bush, Turner says, "Because of Dawn’s courageous opposition to those policies, the Right Wing wants to block her confirmation. But we can’t let them."
Though she says Johnsen has the "integrity" she needs for the position, Turned doesn’t address the pregnancy-slavery comments or Johnsen’s comments calling women "fetal containers" if they are not allowed to have abortions.
The calls will come to residents of Alaska, Arizona, Maine, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Utah where senators have said they oppose using a filibuster to block political nominees.
Michael Keegan, president of People For the American Way thanked the actress, saying, "Kathleen is a longtime board member of our affiliate People For the American Way Foundation, and I’m honored that she’s working with us so closely on this."
ACTION: Contact members of the Senate at https://www.senate.gov and urge strong opposition to Johnsen’s appointment.
