Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — A pro-life leader says President Barack Obama is already motivating pro-life advocates to intensify their opposition to him because of the pro-abortion record he is compiling. Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser published a commentary about that in this week’s Human Events.

Dannenfelser, who has been a leader of the women’s pro-life group for well over a decade, examines how the extreme actions of the Obama administration may be the tipping point for the pro-life movement.

Obama’s overturning the Mexico City Policy, which stopped taxpayer funding of the foreign abortion agenda, and promoting domestic abortion funding is turning off large numbers of voters.

"President Obama may very well be supplying an ‘overreach’ moment for the right to life movement by attempting to require taxpayers to fully fund abortions in federal programs and the domestic and international abortion industries themselves," Dannenfelser says.

"This ‘abortion industry bailout’ during a time of acute economic crisis is a dramatic overreach that far outstrips citizens’ public opinion," she wrote.

"Obama’s overreach gives pro-life human rights advocates in the mold of Susan B. Anthony reason to hope," Dannenfelser writes. "A turning point for protecting the unborn could well be on the horizon."

The pro-life women’s leader also says that what appears to be Obama’s plan to overturn the protections President Bush put in place to help medical staff and centers that don’t want to do abortions is also upsetting average Americans.

"It is one thing to take a ‘pro-choice’ position on an issue, allowing others to engage in activity even if one is personally opposed," she explains.

"It is quite another to be forced to facilitate activity one opposes in conscience. Actions such as those can galvanize public opinion and result in the changes the public – not the activists – really want," Dannenfelser writes in the column.

Earlier in February, a Gallup poll revealed 58 percent of Americans oppose Obama’s decision to force taxpayer funding of foreign abortions and abortion promotion. Just 35 percent support it and 7 percent have no opinion.

Breaking down the new poll further, Gallup asked respondents to state their opinion on seven major actions President Obama has taken since becoming president. Overturning the Mexico City Policy engendered more opposition than any of the other actions and it had the lowest level of support.
