St. Paul, MN (LifeNews.com) — A man has been arrested after crashing his automobile into the front doors of a local Planned Parenthood abortions business. The man, whose name has not yet been released, is reportedly against abortions and pro-life advocates hope it is an isolated case of one person who wrongfully took matters into their own hands.
The 32-year-old man was reportedly arrested and taken to Ramsey County jail after the incident and will likely be charged with aggravated assault.
The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. local time and only one person was inside the Planned parenthood facility at the time.
The front door of the abortion center and some stone work surrounding it suffered some damage, but otherwise the abortion facility escaped heavy damages.
Tim Stanley, executive director of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, told AP the incident did not stop the center from doing abortions today as scheduled. The facility in question is the only Planned Parenthood center in the state that does abortions.
Sarah Stoesz, the president and chief executive officer of the abortions business believed it to be a one-time occurrence.
"It’s never happened before and we don’t expect it to happen again," she told the Star Tribune newspaper. "We certainly don’t expect this sort of thing."
"The damage ended up being minor and things were cleaned up while we diverted patients to another entrance," Stoesz said. "It shook people up a little bit, but the staff responded in a very calm way."
Once officials learn the identity of the man involved, they will press charges as they believe the incident was purposeful and not an accident.
"That’s our belief that it was an intentional act," police spokesman Peter Panos told AP. "Usually we have some demonstrations there on this day, but someone doing actual damage is very, very rare."
"We think it’s intentional because of Roe vs. Wade," Panos said. "He’s not saying much. He was praying or chanting when the officers arrived."
The driver’s move came on the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision allowing virtually unlimited abortions.
