Washington, DC ( — Norma McCorvey, the former Jane Roe of the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, has recorded a new television commercial speaking out against abortion. The commercial is running on stations in several states as the part of educational campaigns pro-life groups are undertaking.

"Back in 1973, I was a very confused twenty-one year old with one child and facing an unplanned pregnancy," she says in the ad. "At the time I fought to obtain a legal abortion, but truth be told, I have three daughters and never had an abortion."

"Upon knowing God, I realized that my case which legalized abortion on demand, was the biggest mistake of my life," McCorvey says about her conversion to Christianity and adopting a pro-life position.

McCorvey condemns the fact that the case that carried her fictitious name resulted in approximately 50 million abortions in the thirty-six years since then.

She concludes the 60 second ad with the words: "You read about me in history books, but now I am dedicated to spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death.”

VirtueMedia, a non-profit pro-life group based in Arizona that has produced dozens of professional pro-life commercials on abortion and other pro-life topics, is behind the new ad.

The group tells that McCorvey’s commercial has been airing heavily this month in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, and other states across the nation.

"There have been overwhelmingly positive responses from viewers who have seen the ad, yet, on the flip side, there have also been many controversial responses from those against protecting the sanctity of life," the group said.

"It is evident by these emails, that McCorvey’s courage to speak out on the evils of abortion, and her redemptive story, is touching hearts, changing minds — and again creating controversy — but now, from the other side," it continued.

VirtueMedia uses the immense reach and impact of media to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves- the unborn, aged, and most vulnerable.

Their creative ads are licensed to Right to Life groups, and have aired across North America and foreign countries in both English and Spanish.
