Portland, OR (LifeNews.com) — Pro-life advocates in Portland protested the groundbreaking ceremony of a new abortion business today. Members of Precious Children of Portland attended the afternoon event to mark the beginning of construction of a new Planned Parenthood abortion business.

The new facility, which will serve as the headquarters of Planned Parenthood Columbia-Willamette is located in the heart of the African-American community at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Beech Street.

David Greenburg, CEO of Planned Parenthood-Columbia Willamette, has already confirmed the fears of local pro-life advocates that the new building will increase the number of women going there for abortions.

Nina Rhea, a local pro-life advocate helping lead the efforts against the new abortion business, told LifeNews.com, that Planned Parenthood has a reputation of deceiving the public about abortion’s risks and alternatives.

That deception, she said, also includes opposing parental involvement when teenagers have abortions, and the abortion business led the fight against a ballot amendment for parental notification.

"We would like the local news media to ask Planned Parenthood why they deceive the public," she said. "Their deceptive practices include scaring the general public into believing that parents are a threat to teenage girls who find themselves pregnant."

Rhea added: "Across the U.S., Planned Parenthood has protected sexual predators by not reporting to authorities teenage mothers, who are minors impregnated by adult males, who come to their abortion mill."

Rhea indicated that Barrs and Genauer is the new builder of the abortion center. Her group has previously urged calls to a former builder to ask it to stop its involvement.

ACTION: Contact Barrs and Genauer and ask it to stop its participation in building the new abortion center. Contact Barrs & Genauer Construction Inc, 4244 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211, fax 503-232-5177 or call 503-232-6004. You can also email [email protected] or [email protected]
