Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — A leading pro-life women’s group is planning a town hall this weekend that it hopes will include one million pro-life women from battleground states across the country. The Susan B. Anthony List is putting together the nationwide conference call for Saturday morning.
Under its Team Sarah campaign, SBA hopes to recruit women to support the McCain-Palin ticket because it features the first pro-life woman to run on a major party ticket for president and vice-president.
Team Sarahs Million Woman Townhall is an historic effort to reach one million female voters who can turn the tide of the presidential election," Jane Abraham, the chair of the SBA List, tells LifeNews.com.
Abraham says the election is "far from over" despite some depressing polling data showing Obama with a lead.
She says the event will "build on Governor Palins historic candidacy to tap into the power of the female vote."
"The Million Woman Townhall will engage registered women voters in battleground states not only to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket, but to bring three friends with them to the polls," Abraham says. "These women can ensure victory for John McCain and Sarah Palin on Election Day, and Team Sarah is excited to energize and activate them.
Former presidential candidate Fred Thompson will welcome women voters to the Saturday morning phone call. Once the event begins, voters will have a chance to question a panel of pro-life women leaders including Jeri Thompson, actress Janine Turner, pollster Kellyanne Conway, policy expert Barbara Comstock, Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser and Abraham.
Team Sarah recently launched www.teamsarah.org, a social networking site where women can learn more about Governor Palin, register to vote, create profiles and interact with other Palin supporters. The site already has thousands of members.
