Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The campaign of John McCain and Sarah Palin has released a new radio ad designed to refute the misleading claims of a recent attack commercial from Barack Obama. The Obama ad falsely claims McCain and Palin don’t support stem cell research to help patients.

The Obama ad claimed McCain has "stood in the way of progress" despite his votes to authorize millions in federal funds for the science.

The Obama ad also features a mother of a child with juvenile diabetes who ignored how adult stem cell research provides the most hope for patients.

The McCain response ad says, "Barack Obama and his Congressional allies’ stem cell attacks are simply not true."

"Leading news organizations call their attacks ‘misleading,’ ‘Out of bounds,’ ‘Manhandling the truth,’ and ‘Wrong,’" it continues.
"The truth? John McCain and his Congressional allies fought FOR stem cell research," the ad says. "They stood up and said stem cell research was too important for you and your family."

"Change is coming. McCain-Palin and Congressional allies," the ad concludes. "The leadership and experience to change Washington and improve your health."

This is the second ad the McCain campaign has run on the issue of stem cell research. The first ad responded to attacks on Governor Palin, who came under attack from pro-abortion vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden claiming she doesn’t support the science.

Biden questioned Palin’s commitment to special needs children by attacking Palin’s stance on the issue of embryonic stem cell research, which has never helped a single patient.

"John McCain will lead his Congressional allies to improve America’s health," the ad said.

"Stem cell research to unlock the mystery of cancer, diabetes, heart disease; stem cell research to help free families from the fear and devastation of illness; stem cell research to help doctors repair spinal cord damage, knee injuries, serious burns; stem cell research to help stroke victims," it explains.

"And, John McCain and his Congressional allies will invest millions more in new NIH medical research to prevent disease," the ad continued. "Medical breakthroughs to help you get better, faster. Change is coming."
