Ohio Planned Parenthood Runs PR Ads to Distract From Abortion Business

Cincinnati, OH (LifeNews.com) — Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio is following the lead of the national Planned Parenthood organization, which is doing everything possible to distract the public’s attention from the fact that it is the nation’s largest abortion business. The Ohio affiliate has new ads saying it also does legitimate services.

The new PPSO newspaper advertising campaign is called "the A-word" because it attempts to shift the public’s view from abortion to other issues.

Those other a-words are abstinence, access, affordability and advocacy.

PPSO CEO Becki Brenner told the Associated Press Wednesday that abortions supposedly account for just two percent of its business, though there is no indication if the time the group spends lobbying against abortion or promoting pro-abortion candidates is included.

Brenner hopes Cincinnati residents will focus on the cancer screenings, prenatal care, and educational about sexually transmitted diseases Planned Parenthood does.

But Paula Westwood, executive director of Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, tells LifeNews.com that the ads are misleading.

Not only do the ads distract from the fact that Planned Parenthood does 25 percent of all abortions in the United States, but Westwood says they denigrate abstinence education.

"These ads are misleading," she said. "According to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s own web site Planned Parenthood promotes ‘comprehensive sex eduation’ as opposed to abstinence until marriage," she explained.

"Note that Planned Parenthood’s definition of abstinence is one of personal control–abstain from sex only if and when you want to–sexual activity of any kind with any one is fine," Westwood explained.

"But the virtue of chastity is the true choice for sexual wholeness–purity and virginity for the unmarried, and sexual intimacy treasured as a God-given gift for within a marriage," she adds.

The new ad campaign comes at a time when Planned Parenthood is attempting to move an abortion center into a new area closer to schools.

Rep. Steve Chabot of Cincinnati, a pro-life Republican, is working hard to stop that from happening.
