Cheyenne, WY (LifeNews.com) — A leading pro-life group in Wyoming has issued an endorsement for presidential candidate John McCain saying he is the best option for voters who are serious about opposing abortion. Right to Life of Wyoming says his opponent, Barack Obama, is so extreme that he would overturn state pro-life laws.

The Right to Life of Wyoming board of directors, representing chapters across the state from Cheyenne, Rawlins and Rock Springs to Jackson, Cody, and Gillette, unanimously voted to endorse McCain.

RTLW president Steven Ertelt talked about the decision.

"During his tenure in Congress, McCain developed an excellent pro-life voting record voting against taxpayer-funded abortions and supporting the right of parents to know when their teen daughters are considering an abortion," Ertelt said.

"As president, McCain will make sure we don’t have to pay for abortions, he’ll press for judges who won’t allow unlimited abortions, and he’ll promote a ban on human cloning," Ertelt added.

While McCain has voted to protect the interests of Wyoming residents, Obama would immediately work to change the laws the Wyoming state legislature has put in place.

Ertelt said Obama has promised to sign the so-called Freedom of Choice Act into law as his first action as president. This legislation would enshrine unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy as the law of the nation, but it has worse consequences for Wyoming families, Ertelt said.

"Every single law Wyoming has approved to limit abortions would be gone if Barack Obama becomes president because this bill would overturn them all," Ertelt said.

"Ban on taxpayer-funded abortions? Gone. Parental notification and consent? Gone. Not forcing doctors to do abortions? Gone. Banning late-term abortions? Gone," Ertelt explained.

"Those are the consequences of an Obama presidency — we get 35 more years of unlimited abortions with his Supreme Court picks and every pro-life law in Wyoming will be history," Ertelt concluded.
