Waco, TX (LifeNews.com) — A Waco, Texas memorial to babies who have died from legal abortions was vandalized over the weekend as someone with an SUV-type vehicle drove over the display. Organizers tell LifeNews.com that about 2-3,000 small wooden crosses were destroyed out of the 4,000 in the display representing the number of daily abortions.

The Rachel’s Park Memorial was officially dedicated in the city of Waco in January 2000 at Church on the Rock on the north side of town.

There are several features to the park that are designed to help post-abortive families grieve their loss and reconnect with God following an abortion.

Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, the founder and director of the memorial, told LifeNews.com he’s disappointed that someone chose to destroy it.

“Since our nation allows for the desecration and destruction of God’s little image-bearers, the pre-born children, one should not find it surprising when a memorial that honors their deaths are violated as well,” he said.

“I pray those who are responsible will be brought to justice," he added.

The owner of the vehicle responsible for the destruction of the pro-life display likely suffered significant damage to it.

Thomas told LifeNews.com that the crosses were planted into the ground with steel rebar.

Anyone with knowledge about the vandalism is urged to notify the Waco Police Department.
