Des Moines, IA (LifeNews.com) — The Iowa affiliate of the nation’s largest abortion business is opening a new facility in Des Moines with a peculiar approach to attracting new customers. The new Susan Knapp Health Center, the latest addition to Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa’s sites, opened on Monday.

However, in an effort to change the image of the abortion business in this first presidential primary state, the new center will offer prenatal care for pregnant women.

The second PPGI site to offer prenatal care, the new facility will target neighborhoods north of downtown and those living near Drake University.

Prenatal patients are provided comprehensive physical exams and health counseling during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. At the 28th week of pregnancy, patients then transition to other health care providers who assist in the delivery of the babies.

Patients return to Planned Parenthood for postpartum checkups.

Despite the program, Jill June, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa, promises the abortion business will remain true to its main source of income.

"Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa will continue to provide abortions," she said. "Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa continues to work to ensure that women have access to the highest quality abortion care."

Though the new site doesn’t appear to be an abortion center, it will refer customers to other Planned Parenthood facilities that do them.

The facility was named for a Des Moines businesswoman and her husband, Bill and Susan Knapp, who are longtime Planned Parenthood and Drake University donors. They also operate Kanpp Properties, a leading Des Moines brokerage firm and apartment renter.
