Sonarpur, India (LifeNews.com) — In an unusual move, a doctor in India who botched a legal abortion on a woman filed a complaint against himself. Pradtoy Naskar, from the town of Sonarpur in the province of West Bengal, filed the complaint after an abortion he did went terribly wrong and perforated the woman’s uterus causing her death.
Naskar filed a complaint with the police, who promptly arrested him on grounds that his abortion killed the woman.
"Every person has a different ideology and different philosophy," Naskar told the Daily India newspaper. "According to my conscious, what I thought at the moment, I did it. I am feeling very sick."
"Whatever action will be taken by the judicial system against me, will be welcomed by me," he added.
Police told the newspaper that the family of the victim has not filed a formal complaint against the abortion practitioner.
However, in California, the mother of a woman who died after an abortion at a Planned Parenthood in Riverside filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the abortion business last week.
The lawsuit contends that Planned Parenthood officials gave 21 year-old Edrica Goode poor medical care prior to the abortion that claimed her life. Goode went to the Planned Parenthood abortion center on January 31 pregnant and with a vaginal infection.
Despite the infection, the lawsuit says staff at the abortion center inserted cervical dilators to prepare her for a second-trimester abortion.
The lawsuit says the dilators, which consist mostly of seaweed, caused the spread of the infection throughout her body, leading to her death.
