Pro-Life Students Reach Halfway Point in Walk Across Nation Against Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Three groups of pro-life college students have reached the halfway point in their journey across the nation to raise awareness of the brutality of abortion against women and children. This is the twelfth year students affiliated with the pro-life group Crossroads have made the journey and the latest groups have reached Chicago, Kansas and Louisiana.
As the nation celebrated Independence Day last week, the students noted that “it is a glaring contradiction that we should deny the right to life and liberty to millions of unborn persons.”
“Until the cultural and moral problems that emanate from this crisis are settled, America will not be able to begin the healing process,” Crossroads national director Martha Nolan said in a statement. “But whatever happens politically, our purpose is to change hearts and minds, and we are in this fight for the long-haul.”
Nolan said the students meet many people who are realizing that pro-abortion groups have sold the nation on the supposed benefits of abortion, only to realize abortion hurts women and children.
“By their own admission, we know that abortion-rights advocates have lied to Americans about the reality of abortion,” Nolan stated.
“They have disregarded the harmful effects that abortion has on women, physically and psychologically, and the negative effect it has had on the culture, generally. But they are beginning to tell the truth about one thing: that the pro-life side is winning," Nolan explained.
Founded in 1995, the group has reached millions of Americans with its walks and news reports in local newspapers along the way.
The three walks this summer originated in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and all three will conclude in Washington on August 12. Together, the three groups of students will have covered 9,500 miles and walked through 31 states on their way to the nation’s capital.
