Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) — A California abortion practitioner who is a convicted sex offender will be allowed to continue performing abortions for another six weeks.

Laurence Reich has had two separate criminal convictions for molesting women during physical exams. Reich has agreed to give up his medical license, rather than have it revoked by the court and the Osteopathic Board.

Still, Reich will be allowed to continue performing abortions until mid-April, according to a WorldNetDaily news report.

Reich’s two associates, John Rivera and George D. Flanigan, also have criminal records. Rivera was convicted of publicly groping a woman while on the drug ecstasy, while Flanigan was convicted of stealing from the state Medi-Cal program.

Although Reich has been found guilty of sexual misconduct, he was not required to register as a sex offender.

Reich is notorious for owning a chain of abortion centers which target Hispanics and only accept cash. Last year, CNN television exposed Reich’s sexual offenses, amazingly prompting pro-abortion U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer to lobby to have his license suspended.

Pro-life advocates in California would like to see a full investigation into the unsafe and possibly criminal activity at abortion facilities in the state. They note that many of these abortion centers target mostly Hispanic women who are less likely to complain to authorities about botched abortions and sexual misconduct inside abortion facilities.

Last month, a woman was taken to the hospital from one of Reich’s abortion facilities after apparently suffering from a botched abortion.

The abortion occurred at Clinica Medica Para La Mujer De Hoy located in Santa Ana, a southeast suburb of Los Angeles.

“We call on the state of California to immediately and permanently halt activities at the five Clinica Medica abortion mills and conduct a full investigation into their obviously shoddy and unsafe practices,” Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger said.
