Wichita, KS (LifeNews.com) -- A woman was taken from a Kansas
abortion facility to a local hospital Thursday after an apparent botched
abortion. The incident comes just weeks after another woman apparently
died after another botched abortion at the same abortion business.
An
ambulance carried the unidentified woman on Thursday from Women's Health
Care Services, the abortion business owned by late-term abortion practitioner
George Tiller, to the Wesley Medical Center Emergency Room.
Members of a local pro-life organization took pictures of the scene and saw the woman being unloaded from the ambulance.
They described her as not moving and there were no IV bags or other medical supplies which would normally indicate a patient was being cared for on the way to the hospital. In addition, the woman was covered with a blanket and her body was strapped in three places to the gurney.
Cheryl Sullenger witnessed the incident and said she believes she spotted LeRoy Carhart in a passenger vehicle driving to the hospital with an abortion facility staffer.
Carhart is a Nebraska late-term abortion practitioner who has received nationwide attention for his Supreme Court case overturning a ban on partial-birth abortions.
After the incident, Adam McArthur, a member of Operation Rescue, contacted the Sedgwick County Emergency Communications Office and director Diane Gage denied his open records request for copies of the transcripts of the call between employees at the abortion facility and 911.
“We are aware that these are public records,” said Operation Rescue president Troy Newman. “It is against the law to hide these public records and not release them when legal request has been made."
Newman indicated his organization would file a civil lawsuit to obtain the records if authorities do not release them.
"The truth must come out about the numbers of women injured and killed by George Tiller and his cohorts, so that other women do not suffer the same tragic fate," Newman said.
Last month, another woman rushed to Wesley on January 13 from the abortion facility apparently died from complications resulting from a botched abortion.
According to one source, who spoke with Operation Rescue, she arrived at the hospital with "severe hemorrhaging" and died "a few days later" from undetermined causes the source said "are very likely to be the result of a botched abortion."
IN that case, according to 911 transcripts the group obtained, Tiller employee Marguerite Reed called for an ambulance after the abortion was botched.
The record indicates Reed was "very evasive" and "refused to give any information about the patient."
Later, Reed told 911 operators the woman suffered
from "pain above the belly button." Reed said the woman was
awake and alert and did not suffer from chest pain.
