Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) -- The November ballot proposal that would allow parents in California to know when their minor daughters are considering an abortion has done well in previous polls achieving a plurality. Now, a new survey finds a clear majority of voters say they will vote for Proposition 4 next month.

A new poll from Survey USA indicates growing support for Sarah's Law.

With less than a month before the election, the survey found 52 percent of California residents plan to support the measure.

"The poll confirms what we have heard throughout the state - more Californians than ever before are supporting the mainstream message of parental notification," Vince Vasquez, of the Yes on Proposition 4 campaign, told LifeNews.com.

Vasquez pointed out that support from Democrats (38 percent) and women voters (52 percent) for Proposition 4 has increased since 2006, when polls found that only 33 percent of Democrat voters and 44 percent of women supported a similar parental notification ballot measure.

The Survey USA poll also indicates that 36 percent of voters who call themselves "pro-choice" on abortion plan to support the parental notification measure.

Regionally, support for Proposition 4 is strongest in the Central Valley (60 percent) and the Inland Empire (60 percent), with narrow approval in the greater Los Angeles area (51 percent).

The new poll follows a September Field Poll showing a 49-41 percentage point split in favor of the parental notification measure and an August Public Policy Institute of California survey showing a 47-44 percent advantage.

Charles Gallagher, another Yes on 4 representative, said, "We are a state that nurtures our youth and we believe that Proposition 4 will prevail with broad bipartisan support."

The campaign, continuing its outreach to the Latino community, will be launching a Spanish language Yes on Proposition 4 commercial Monday night.

Popular Hispanic actor Eduardo Verastegui recently endorsed the measure and is featured in a Yes on Proposition 4 television ad unveiled by the campaign last week.

In the 90-second ad, Verastegui says family involvement is the best way to ensure that a girl gets the best medical care and understands all her options.

"In California, a girl younger than 18 cannot get a tan at a tanning salon, she cannot get her ears pierced, she cannot be provided an aspirin by the school nurse without the consent of her parents," Verastegui says.

"Yet a doctor can perform a chemical or surgical abortion on such a girl without having to tell some member of her family," he says.
