New York Pregnancy Center Launches Mobile Clinic at Abortion Business

New York, NY (LifeNews.com) -- In what is billed as a first of its kind in the nation, a New York City crisis pregnancy center has sent a mobile pregnancy clinic to set up shop outside of an abortion business. The converted motorhome features a portable ultrasound unit and will have staff members who can assist women with unplanned pregnancies.

The Expectant Mother Care center plans to park the motorhome at major abortion facilities six days a week to give women other options apart from abortion.

"Today marks a dramatic new chapter in the pro-life movement's efforts to reach out in compassion to women about to obtain an abortion," EMC founder and president Chris Slattery told LifeNews.com in a statement.

Slattery plans to bring the mobile pregnancy center to an abortion facility in the South Bronx on Tuesday.

EMC will offer free ultrasounds, hot drinks, and crisis counseling to all pregnant women on their way into the abortion center, Slattery told LifeNews.com.

"We anticipate a great response to our offers of free pregnancy tests, counseling, and ultrasound, as women will be offered a judgment free space to reflect on their impending abortion without heavy pressure or coercion," he said.

"Women will be offered free group housing, free pre-natal care, and material aid, as well as professional adoption counseling, besides an offer of a free ultrasound," Slattery added.

Slattery says this is the first initiative of this type in any major American city and he said having it in New York is important because more abortions occur there than in virtually every state, with 88,000 done annually.

He hopes the idea spread to other locations where pregnancy centers hope to help women with better pregnancy alternatives than abortion.
