Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new poll has pro-abortion President Barack Obama leading all of the potential Republican presidential candidates he may face in a 2012 re-election bid. The new Public Policy Polling survey comes after a new Rasmussen poll showing Mike Huckabee faring the best with Republican voters.

Obama would defeat four of his potential opponents and the survey shows Huckabee again faring the best out of the Republican candidates he could face.

PPP finds Obama with a 47 to 43 percent lead over Huckabee, the pro-life former Arkansas governor, with 10 percent undecided.

Against Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who campaigned as a pro-life candidate, Obama holds a 48-40 percent lead with 12 percent undecided.

Obama has a larger lead over former Arkansas governor Sarah Palin, 52-40 with 8 percent of voters undecided.

The pro-abortion president holds his largest lead over current Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, although the pro-life advocate is the least known of the bunch. PPP shows Obama leading 50-30 percent with 20 percent undecided.

Some 72 percent of the registered voters polled in the survey have no opinion of Pawlenty, which skews the results until he is better known.

PPP noted that the results were again good for Huckabee.

"For the seventh consecutive time PPP has run this poll Mike Huckabee comes the closest to Obama of the GOP hopefuls," the polling firm noted. "Huckabee is the only GOP contender with a positive net favorability rating."

Palin continues to be seen unfavorably by more than half of the population, as 51% have an unfavorable opinion of her to 36% looking at her favorably.

The results can be compared with Obama's final election victory over Arizona Sen. John McCain, where he won by 7.3 percent with a 52.9% to 45.6% victory.

“Barack Obama’s approval rating reflects his performance at the polls last November so it’s no surprise he continues to lead all of his potential Republican opponents,” said Dean Debnam, president of the polling firm. “It’s going to be interesting to see if any of these possible GOP nominees can separate themselves from the field, or if someone beneath the radar right now ends up ascending much as Obama did for the Democrats.”
