Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The latest Gallup polling data shows the approval rating for pro-abortion President Barack Obama at this point in his presidency is lower than that of any recent president except Bill Clinton. Gallup's most recent weekly ratings has just 52 percent of the American public saying they approve of the job Obama is doing.

At the same time, the average approval rating of presidents to this point since President Franklin D. Roosevelt is 55 percent.

Former President George W. Bush had a 76 percent approval rating in September of the first year of his term while his father had a 70 percent approval rating.

President Ronald Reagan was tied at 52 percent while Carter (57 percent) Richard Nixon (59 percent), John F. Kennedy (79 percent), and Dwight Eisenhower (61 percent) all had higher ratings than Obama.

Only Bill Clinton had a lower mark at this point in his first year, with just 50 percent of Americans saying they approved of the job he was doing.

The Gallup polling data shows Obama has been in the low 50s for an approval rating since July, when the health care debate heated up and pro-life groups intensely focused on the abortion funding found in it.

Obama's Republican approval rating has been in the upper teens in recent months while Democrats have dropped from the low 90s to the upper 80s. Independents have dropped from the 60s to the 50s and now to the high 40s.
When it comes to abortion, specifically, one poll has shown that Americans are not happy with Obama's decision-making.

A February Gallup poll found strong majority of Americans are upset that President Barack Obama overturned a policy that prevented funding of groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. In overturning the Mexico City Policy, Obama reneged on his promise to reduce abortions as president.

As LifeNews.com reported, the pro-life policy had been in place during the entirety of the Bush administration and Obama rescinded it on his first week in office.

Reacting to the decision in a poll conducted by the Gallup organization, 58 percent of Americans opposed Obama's pro-abortion decision while just 35 percent supported it and 7 percent had no opinion.

Breaking down the new poll further, Gallup asked respondents to state their opinion on seven major actions President Obama has taken since becoming president. Overturning the Mexico City Policy engendered more opposition than any of the other actions and it had the lowest level of support.
