Washington,
DC (LifeNews.com) -- A coalition of 16 pro-life groups has released
a new video that responds in advance to a conference call President
Barack Obama has planned with left-wing religious leaders in an attempt
to build more support for his pro-abortion government-run health care
plan pending in Congress.
The Stop the Abortion Mandate coalition, which recently held a national conference call with more than 36,000 pro-life advocates, is behind the new video.
Sixteen pro-life leaders are featured in the 90-second video urging Americans to realize the urgency of the current healthcare proposal and that it is biggest threat to the expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade.
The video is a powerful display of unity and urgency within the pro-life and pro-family movement against the Presidents healthcare bill, Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America and a member of the coalition, told LifeNews.com.
Whether or not they are pro-life or pro-choice, Americans do not want to be forced to pay for abortions, which is exactly what Obamas healthcare plan does," Hawkins added.
The video feature a splicing of the pro-life advocates each taking a turn saying a phrase that is a part of the overall message.
The Stop the Abortion Mandate coalition is urging pro-life advocates to contact their elected officials and attend town hall meetings to ask if their representative supports taxpayer funded abortion.
For us, this isnt a political fight, it isnt only a fight over a massive national debt or a government takeover of healthcare, says Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, in the video.
What were talking about is life & death, Dr. Gene Rudd of the Christian Medical Association, adds.
The pro-life advocacy groups are concerned that the mainstream media will make it appear that the liberal Christian groups, which are not thoroughly pro-life, speak for all Christians and pro-lifers. One such group is holding a national webcast this evening to promote the healthcare bill, taxpayer funded abortion included.
Dont be fooled by double speak and rhetoric, said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life. No true pro-life or Christian group would be support a bill that mandates abortion.
Hawkins says the pro-life movement can't stop its efforts to keep abortion and rationing out of the health care bills.
"The pro-life movement is making great progress in keeping the pressure on President Obama and his allies in Congress to make sure that tax-payer funded abortion and rationed healthcare for the sick and the elderly will not be included in any healthcare reform plans, but we need your help to keep the momentum going," she told LifeNews.com.
"The other side is trying everything they can to make sure abortion is included in healthcare reform but don't be fooled," she says.
Hawkins said Obama is participating in a nationwide webcast tonight with several pro-abortion "faith" groups "that are going to say that religious organizations want healthcare reform, taxpayer-funded abortion and all."
"In reality, these groups are part of the religious left and are a minority," she concluded.
