Washington,
DC (LifeNews.com) -- Barack Obama, observers say, will likely
quickly reverse President Bush's policy on foreign abortions. Bush
put an order in place that prevents forcing taxpayers to fund the
performance or promotion of abortions overseas.
That Bush protection, known as the Mexico City Policy, makes it so Americans don't have to send money to groups that do foreign abortions or lobby pro-life nations to change their laws.
It is expected to be reversed on day one of the Obama administration and will be one of several executive orders that Obama will scrap immediately upon taking office.
Sen. Sam Brownback, a Kansas Republican, told the National Catholic Register there is no guessing game when it comes to reversing the policy and he is confident Obama will promote taxpayer funded abortions as soon as possible.
I am very concerned with Obamas stated support for the Freedom of Choice Act, very concerned about what hes going to do on the Mexico City Policy, and its almost a foregone conclusion that he will support using taxpayer dollars to implement these policies, Brownback warned.
Overturning the Mexico City Policy will only the first in a long line of methods of funding abortions and pro-life advocates expect the Democratic-controlled Congress to fund abortions in other ways.
You name the program and the abortion community will find an abortion that should be there, says Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.
She says abortion funding will come in bills related to the Peace Corps, on military bases, in prisons, and for recipients of Medicare.
Everywhere
the vulnerable exist, they want more abortions, it seems, she
said.
