Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The national pro-life group for college students is sponsoring a new contest that it hopes will get students to use the latest video technology to further the pro-life cause. Students for Life of America, is launching its first-ever pro-life video activism contest in cooperation with Stand True Ministries and Rock for Life.

The contest asks high school and college-aged students to submit homemade videos, posted on YouTube, regarding pro-life voting in the 2008 presidential election and de-funding Planned Parenthood.

Several prize levels will be awarded with the winner of the top prize receiving $2,000.

Students for Life of America is no stranger to the use of video technology to advance the pro-life cause as it placed footage on YouTube of Kansas-based late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller speaking at a recent pro-abortion event sponsored by the National Education Association.

The footage sparked a national outcry from teachers and educators as did footage from students at UCLA who recently posted videos of calls they made to Planned Parenthood abortion businesses around the country.

Hundreds of thousands were drawn to YouTube to watch the videos made by former SFLA intern and UCLA student, Lila Rose, which featured volunteers calling Planned Parenthoods, posing as racists, asking Planned Parenthood employees to accept donations solely to be used to fund abortions of "black kids."

In all cases, the Planned Parenthood staffers accepted the money with one Development Director saying she was “excited” by the donation.

However, as LifeNews.com reported, YouTube inexplicably censored the Rose videos citing harassment of Planned Parenthood.

Kristan Hawkins, the Students for Life of America executive director, says the videos could have a significant impact on the elections.

"With Planned Parenthood pledging to raise over ten million dollars this election cycle and pro-life videos becoming a leading force in the fight for Life, this contest encourages students and student groups,” she said.

Hawkins hopes the groups will “further examine the operations and federal funding of Planned Parenthood and the pro-life vote in the coming election through the YouTube phenomenon.”

Students in U.S. high schools and universities as well as homeschoolers may enter their videos on either De-funding Planned Parenthood or Pro-Life Voting in the 2008 Election. All entries must be posted on YouTube and submitted by October 11, 2008.

They will be judged in five categories ranging from creativity and originality to newsworthiness. Whether documentary style or scripted, each video must be under 10 minutes in length and entirely factual.
