Pro-Life Groups Announce Abortion Protest Plans for Democratic Convention

Denver, CO (LifeNews.com) -- When the tens of thousands of Democratic Party activists come to Denver next week for their national convention, they will be greeted by hundreds of pro-life advocates. As the party nominates a presidential candidate who takes an absolutist position for abortion they'll show how it kills children and hurts women.

Under the name "A Prayer for Change," the collection of pro-life groups plan to surround the Pepsi Center, the convention site, in a prayer chain.

While they're there, the members of the Christian Defense Coalition, Operation Rescue, and the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust will leave roses at the site as a memorial to the 50 million children victimized by abortion.

The organizations also intend to hold public rallies and vigils in Denver parks, demonstrations throughout the city including Senator Obama's and delegates' hotels.

They will be distributing literature and holding major pro-life witnesses at various venues throughout Denver with banners, trucks and cutting edge public events.

In a statement sent to LifeNews.com, the pro-life groups say the purpose of "A Prayer for Change," is to "pray to end the violence and injustice of abortion and to educate America on the radical and extremist abortion policies of Senator Obama."

"We are coming to the DNC in Denver to pray for an end to abortion and the tragic crushing of human rights and social injustice that abortion produces," Rev. Patrick Mahoney tells LifeNews.com.

"Through prayer and cutting edge public events, pro-life activists intend to expose the radical pro-abortion policies of Senator Obama. We will be especially focusing on educating faith voters across America," he said.

The group recently launched a new web site called Obamawantsyou.com which details Senator Obama's radical pro-abortion policies.

"If elected, Senator Obama would be 'The Abortion President,' with the most extremist views of any President in American history," Mahoney said.

Kaitlin Clare, a 23-year-old pro-life woman, says the women at the Democratic convention won't represent her views.

"I am appalled at the radical and troubling abortion politics of Senator Obama," she told LifeNews.com. "This is not a progressive view on abortion or one that affirms women. As most of this emerging generation is embracing a 'culture of life' and growing less comfortable with abortion, Senator Obama wants to take us back to a radical pro-abortion posture that is both archaic and disturbing."

Another pro-life advocate, Danielle Versluys of Survivors, says the convention and the pro-abortion views of Obama and the party, don't represent young Americans either.

""We are calling on this emerging generation to be on the streets of Denver during the DNC to publicly call for an end to the war on America's children through abortion," she said.

"Our generation will not remain silent while 50,000,000 of our brothers and sisters have been brutalized through abortion."
