Des Moines, IA (LifeNews.com) -- New polling shows Hillary Clinton may have dropped to second in Iowa behind Barack Obama, so now the pro-abortion New York senator has decided to go on the attack. She's blasting her Illinois colleague on the issue of abortion and claming she's done more to advance the pro-abortion cause.

In an Iowa stop on Monday, Clinton sought to portray Obama as someone who talks a tough game on promoting abortion but hasn't advocated it to the same extent as her.

“I don’t think people want a lot of talk about change; I think they want someone with a real record, a doer not a talker," Clinton said.

She claimed Obama voted “present," instead of supporting or opposing a bill or motion, in several instances when he was a member of the Illinois state legislature.

"For legislators who don't want to take a stand, there's a third way to vote. Not yes, not no, but present, which is kind of like voting maybe," she said.

“Seven of those votes were on a women’s right to chose," Clinton said, according to a New York Times report. “A president can’t vote present; a president can’t pick or choose which challenges he or she will face."

"My opponent's campaign says that voting 'present' was a strategy to provide political cover. The Chicago Tribune said the 'present' votes were the equivalent of taking a pass. Well, instead of looking for political cover, and taking a pass, we need a president who will take a stand," Clinton added.

Obama's campaign responded swiftly to the attack and circulated statements from pro-abortion groups saying that his "present" votes were not cases of him dodging votes on important issues.

“Hillary Clinton’s idea of ‘fun’ continues today by attacking Barack Obama’s 100 percent pro-choice rating," Obama spokesman Bill Burton told the Times.

In fact, Obama has come under fire from pro-life groups for opposing a bill that would have protect unborn children who survive botched abortion attempts.
