Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- At a rally in Minnesota with thousands of people, popular Christian leader Dr. James Dobson urged Christian Americans to vote their pro-life values. Dobson, the president of Focus on the Family, has long been active in promoting the pro-life perspective on abortion, euthanasia, and embryonic stem cell research.

With close election races across the country, Dobson told about 3,500 Minnesota voters that they need to get involved and back candidates that share their views and beliefs.

He indicated they should judge candidates based on their views on topics important to Christians, such as pro-life issues.

"If you can find a politician who understands that liberal judges are undermining us and need to be reined in, and if you can find a politician who lives by a strong moral code ... if you can find such a person, it would be a sin not to vote for him," Dobson said.

Dobson urged voters to look for pro-life candidates among both Democrats and Republicans saying "Neither party has a cornerstone on morality."

Tom Minnery, senior vice president for public policy at Focus on the Family Action, told the Associated Press that the group was targeting Minnesota, Tennessee and Pennsylvania to mobilize pro-life Christian voters. He cited the states because they each have very close key races for the House and Senate.

"We're simply asking people to vote their values," Minnery said. "That's entirely appropriate to do."

"The major point is to cast an informed ballot and vote," Minnery added. "Bring everyone you know to do the same."

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, and former presidential candidate Gary Bauer also spoke at the rally.
