Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Responding to a letter from a Catholic watchdog group that monitors Catholic colleges, Georgetown University says it will revise part of its web site regarding the university's women's center. Georgetown came under fire from the Cardinal Newman Society for having links to local businesses that do abortions or refer women to other places that do.

Georgetown University's vice president for student affairs Todd Olson sent a letter to Patrick Reilly of CNS this week. Olson told Reilly the "Women's Center webpage is currently closed down while we update the content and links."

"The new website will not contain this set of referral links," he indicated.

According to a Washington Post report, Olson said Georgetown tried to "ensure that we provide a broad array of resources and services in a manner . . . consistent with our Catholic and Jesuit identity."

Reilly said the college was responding to a letter his group sent it on March 16 pointing out the pro-abortion links.

CNS pointed out that the Women's Center at Georgetown featured a “Women's Health Resource List” that referred students to local centers that perform abortions.

“Leading young adults to abortion clinics and pro-abortion advocacy groups is like feeding them to the lions,” Reilly wrote.

“The incidence of abortion is already very high among college-age women," he added. "Faithful Catholics expect Catholic colleges and universities to embrace a ‘culture of life’ and avoid scandal.”

Other colleges that came under fire included Boston College, DePaul University, Dominican University of California, Loyola University of Chicago, Loyola University of New Orleans, Our Lady of the Lake University, Santa Clara University, Seton Hall University and the University of Detroit Mercy.

CNS also sent letters to the presidents of those Catholic colleges.

The nation's Catholic bishops, in a document about pro-abortion politicians and communion, instructed Catholic colleges not to give a platform to pro-abortion elected officials. They also instructed universities to help build a pro-life culture.
