London, England (LifeNews.com) -- The woman who was recently certified as the oldest mother ever to have a baby disclosed that she had two abortions when she was younger. She says she regrets the decisions.

Adriana Iliescu, a 67 year-old Romanian woman, this month became the olest oman to give birth. However, she told the London Telegraph newspaper tat she became pregnant twice during a failed marriage and had an abortion both times.

"It was the normal thing back then and the accepted form of contraception," she said. "If there is anything I regret then it is those terminations."

Iliescu is a retired university professor who had received fertility drugs for nine years before finally becoming pregnant in early 2004. She gave birth to twin girls on January 16, but only one survived.

An Italian woman previously held the record for being the oldest at birth – having a baby boy when she was 62.
