Yesterday I received my standard weekly email from my former Planned Parenthood affiliate, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. You would think they would have removed my name and email by name, but that is another story.
An Open Letter to Clinic Workers:
I am vehemently against the death penalty. Now stay with me…this is not a post about my opinion regarding that. You can disagree or agree with me on that some other time. I did want to share a little bit about why I take these matters so seriously.
I had a surgical abortion when I was 20 years old. I don’t remember many details. But what I do remember was not pleasant.
It is said, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Is it? Or is it paved with justifications by Christians?
As faithful Christians, our objection to the Health and Human Services mandate the Obama administration has tried to implement is not about revoking women's access to birth control as the media spins it. It's about keeping government out of religion and allowing Christian healthcare providers to exercise their right to practice medicine according to their moral guidelines; forcing private Christian healthcare providers to cover services to which they are morally opposed is a gross violation of conscience laws.
It is strange to think about the things that happened at Planned Parenthood while I was there. I thought so many things were “normal.” Looking back, I see how they were anything but.
Dear Clinic Worker,
Since becoming pregnant, I have learned a hard reality. I have private insurance because I am self employed. I knew that my insurance plan did not offer maternity coverage.
