My boss (National Right to Life Convention Director Jacki Ragan) and I just got back from a trip to the lovely city of Louisville, Kentucky. We were there to work on the final details of the upcoming National Right to Life Convention. The Convention will be held in Louisville this summer June 26 to 28.

alvedaking7When we arrived, the city was still buzzing from last weekend’s Kentucky Derby. I was struck by how absolutely beautiful the place is and how the people there could not be nicer.

But most importantly, the people at Kentucky Right to Life are excited about this important event coming to their state!

And, to be honest, I am possibly just as excited as they are because we have a terrific lineup of speakers addressing us this year. (See NRLConvention.com.)

We were pleased to announce that Dr. Alveda King will speak at the Friday morning Prayer Breakfast, June 27. Dr. King is a pastoral associate with Priests for Life and the Director of their African American outreach program.

A powerful pro-life voice, Dr. King has shared her testimony of two abortions, God’s forgiveness, and healing. She is the daughter of the late civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King and his wife Naomi Barber King. She grew up in the civil rights movement led by her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She sees the pro-life movement as a continuation of the civil rights struggle.

Coincidentally, Louisville, Kentucky, also happened to be the location of her father’s church. We are so honored to have her join us this summer at the National Right to Life Convention. I know she will energize and enlighten us to take a stand for life.
