Pro-life groups are holding rallies across the country this week to urge more grassroots support for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

With moderate Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement, Kavanaugh could swing the court to a conservative majority and be a deciding opinion on vital issues like abortion restrictions and Roe v. Wade.

His confirmation rests with several swing-vote senators, including two pro-abortion Republicans and several moderately pro-life Democrats, some of whom are up for re-election in November. Republicans hold a narrow two-member majority in the U.S. Senate.

On Aug. 8, Concerned Women for America launched its #WomenforKavanaugh bus tour through eight states, where it hopes to rally conservative women to use their voices to support the conservative judge.

“This in an historic moment for our nation, and I could not be more proud to stand alongside conservative women across the country in support of Judge Kavanaugh,” CEO Penny Nance said. “This is the moment conservative women and evangelical voters have been waiting for and a huge reason why they voted for President Trump.”

Kavanaugh also has the support of Susan B. Anthony List, which kicked off a seven-state campaign this week. Partnering with local pro-life leaders, the group is visiting Indiana, North Dakota, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Montana and West Virginia to urge vulnerable red-state Democrat senators to confirm the Supreme Court nominee.

“Americans agree: Judge Brett Kavanaugh is a highly qualified nominee who deserves to be confirmed to the Supreme Court with bipartisan support,” SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “Vulnerable senators up for re-election this year have a choice: stand with the president and their constituents and vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh, or cave to pressure from Chuck Schumer and the extreme abortion lobby.”

The pro-life group said it also has 500 canvassers who hope to reach 2 million homes by November with information about midterm election candidates.

Young adults with Students for Life also are holding rallies in eight states, including Missouri, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Alaska to show youth-led support for the conservative justice.

Jean Purcell, a Baltimore-area pro-life advocate who is traveling with the student group, told LifeZette young pro-lifers’ activism inspires her.

“Activism is precisely what is needed, and these young people are the generation to move things in the right direction,” Purcell said. “Will the mainstream media cover their efforts? Probably not. Is it still a valuable and laudable endeavor? Absolutely — particularly if they can get in front of some lawmakers.”

During their Monday stop outside Democrat Sen. Heidi Heitkamp’s office in Fargo, North Dakota, the pro-life students said one of their megaphones was stolen, presumably by an abortion advocate.

National pro-life leaders have expressed high hopes for Kavanaugh and the future of unborn babies’ rights.

A federal judge, Kavanaugh has served on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C. for more than a decade, where he developed an extensive record of protecting religious liberty and enforcing restrictions on abortion. Pro-life leaders believe he would do the same on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said they will vote on his confirmation prior to the midterm elections.
