MSNBC Claims Women Will be Jailed for Miscarriages if Roe Overturned, But That Never Happened Before Roe

MSNBC is known to most people as the left-wing television station that claims to be a news outlet. But most people know it to be a place for liberal firebrands to substitute their kooky political views for factual journalism.

Now the cable TV station is putting forward a hairbrained theory that President Donald Trump’s next Supreme Court justice will throw women in jail who have abortions or miscarriages. Never mind that that never even happened before Roe v Wade when abortion was illegal. Still, the fact that women were never jailed for having having abortions doesn’t stop MSNBC allowed a guest to put forward the crazy idea unchecked that President Trump’s potential Supreme Court pick wants to put women in the slammer.

Here’s more:

One of the best (worst?) examples of this kind of pro-Roe scaremongering took place this week on MSNBC, when guest Dorothy Roberts argued that overturning the law would lead to the criminalization of miscarriages.

Because why not?

“It’s a very thin line between putting a woman in prison for a stillbirth or a miscarriage that she’s blamed for — for something she did during her pregnancy — and criminalizing abortions,” said the University of Pennsylvania professor of law and sociology.

She added, “So we’re already at that point, and I agree with Jennifer that women and others have to protest against this continued criminalization of women, harms to our health, and what I think is misogynistic laws against women.”

MSNBC desperately wants to portray President Trump’s eventual nominee as out of touch with mainstream America but it doesn’t line up with the facts. Pro-life laws that protected women and children from abortion before Roe v Wade targeted illegal abortion practitioners rather than women when unborn babies were killed in abortions. Miscarriages were never targeted. Lawmakers who crafted pre Roe abortion bans understood that women are often second victims of an abortion industry that cares more about making money than women’s health.
