Kellyanne Conway: Debate Over Supreme Court Shows How Democrats are Obsessed With Abortion

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway blasted pro-abortion Democrats Monday for focusing almost exclusively on abortion in relation to the open U.S. Supreme Court seat.

“I’m just amazed how yet again, the Left boils every single thing, including a Supreme Court justice, down to one issue: abortion,” Conway said, the Washington Examiner reports.

While the abortion issue is extremely important, Conway wondered that pro-abortion Democrats have not been bringing up concerns about a vast number of other political issues.

“The Supreme Court takes on any number of cases,” she told Fox News. “And I think this is why you see a Democrat totally beholden to the abortion issue, almost to the exclusion of everything else.”

Here’s more from the report:

Conway said Trump is not asking nominees “specific questions on cases,” and is looking for nominees with the experience and intellect to sit on the nation’s highest court. She also said nominees will have to decide several other cases dealing with other issues aside from abortion.

“What’s with the Commerce Clause? What’s with all the amendments?” she asked. “We know that they’re hostile to the Second Amendment, but what about the rest of them?”

The Democratic Party has adopted an increasingly radical stance on abortion. In 2016, the DNC approved a platform calling for full support of abortion for any reason up to birth and taxpayer funding of abortions. Both are widely unpopular positions among the general public. However, the abortion industry is a major donor to Democrats’ political campaigns.

Trump has not named his choice yet, but Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion groups already are urging Senators to reject whomever he chooses. They also are flooding swing-vote Senators with phone calls and messages urging them to oppose his nominee, according to The Anchorage Daily News.

Last week, President Donald Trump promised to choose a nominee from the list of 25 conservative leaders, most of whom already are judges on federal circuit courts and state supreme courts.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said they will vote prior to the mid-term elections on Trump’s nominee.

Pro-life advocates and other conservatives have praised Trump for the possible Supreme Court nominees on his list. He chose conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch from the list in 2017.

On Sunday, Trump hinted that the justice he chooses may return the power to regulate abortions to the states.

“Maybe someday it will be to the states. You never know how that’s going to turn out. That’s a very complex question,” Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

“The Roe v. Wade is probably the one that people are talking about in terms of having an effect, but we’ll see what happens, but it could very well end up with states at some point,” Trump added.

He is expected to announce his choice on July 9.
