Civil rights leader Dr. Alveda King recently called people’s attention to the inherent racism in the abortion industry where three times as many black babies are killed in abortions than white babies.

“More African-Americans have died from abortion than from AIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease — combined,” she said in a recent column for the Washington Examiner. “In America today, a black child is three times more likely to be killed in the womb than a white child. And since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by more than 25 percent.”

King centered her column around the recent Starbucks controversy after it came under fire for allegedly racist business practices. The coffee chain responded by retraining all its employees to prevent any future problems, but King urged it to do more.

She said if it wants to end its racist practices, it should stop donating to Planned Parenthood through its employee donation match program.

King, who serves as director of Civil Rights for the Unborn at Priests for Life, said the abortion giant targets unborn black babies for abortions. She said 80 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion facilities are located within walking distance of minority neighborhoods.

“About 13 percent of American women are black, but they have more than 35 percent of the abortions,” she wrote, citing statistics from the U.S. Census and Centers for Disease Control.

What’s more, abortion rates among African American teenagers are more than twice as high as the national average. The African American abortion rate is 41 per 1,000 women ages 15 to 19, according to a study conducted by the Guttmacher Institute. The national average abortion rate is 18 per 1,000 women ages 15 to 19.

“Through the founding of Planned Parenthood, [Margaret] Sanger was a pioneer of modern-day deceptive women’s health practices and the engineer of modern-day black eugenics,” King continued. “Planned Parenthood has spent an entire century murdering children and eradicating African-Americans.”

Despite strong evidence of racism, King said the largest abortion business in America is not being boycotted. She said Sanger even spoke to the Ku Klux Klan, but a statue of her currently sits in the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution.

“Through its corporate donations, Starbucks contributes to one of the most racist organizations in our nation’s history,” she said. “Planned Parenthood, the largest single provider of abortions in the U.S., performs more than 300,000 terminations each year.”
