A Catholic college is under fire from pro-life advocates for hosting the pro-abortion Prime Minister of Ireland — who just completed a push to overturn the nation’s long-standing pro-life protections for unborn children that will ultimately result in legalized abortions.

Pro-abortion Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is set to launch the West Belfast festival Féile an Phobail this afternoon at an event in St Mary’s University college on the Falls Road. The Northern Ireland pro-life group Precious Lifeis not happy about the news.

“This is completely scandalous seeing as St. Mary’s is a traditional Catholic college with both Bishop Trainor and Bishop McKeown sitting on the board of governors,” it told LifeNews. “This man championed the Repeal campaign in the Republic of Ireland and now wants the women of Northern ireland to have access to abortions in the Republic.”

The pro-life organization is asking its members to urgently contact these Bishops’ offices and make a complaint that such an openly pro-abortion politician has been invited into this Catholic College.

“Precious Life will be protesting this event today as Varadkar comes to St. Mary’s College to launch Féile an Phobail’s 30th anniversary festival programme. We are protesting the fact that a Catholic University with a Catholic ethos are allowing the pro-abortion Taoiseach to launch an event for them – Varadkar is now pushing for abortion to be made available for the women of Northern Ireland in the Republic, and he has absolutely no right to come to a Catholic University and lead an event,” the pro-life group said.

It added: “We need everyone to send a message to the Taoiseach that we reject his pro-abortion agenda and that we will reject abortion in Northern Ireland. Leo Varadkar does not speak for us – our laws matter because every life matters and we want no interference. We need to show him that there is huge pressure in the North to protect both mother and baby and to retain our pro-life laws.”
