New Yorkers could see a famous actress/abortion activist running for governor this fall.

Cynthia Nixon, famous for her role in “Sex and the City,” has been hinting at running for office, according to Bustle.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Nixon told New York 1 that the star is “exploring” the possibility of challenging pro-abortion Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary in September.

“Many concerned New Yorkers have been encouraging Cynthia to run for office, and as she has said previously, she will continue to explore it,” her spokeswoman Rebecca Sides Capellan said in a statement. “If and when such a decision is made, Cynthia will be sure to make her plans public.”

Along with acting, Nixon has been a left-wing political activist, working closely with Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups.

Here’s more from the report:

Reports have swirled for months that Nixon was considering challenging Cuomo, who’s running for his third term as governor. The Wall Street Journal reported in August that liberal groups were encouraging the actress to run. In an interview with NBC’s Today that same month, Nixon didn’t show her hand, but did say, “I think there are a lot of people who would like me to run and I think for a variety of reasons, but I think the number one is education.”

Nixon has become a prominent celebrity activist on the left over the years. She’s campaigned for de Blasio, former President Obama, and former Sen. Al Franken [who recently resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment]. She’s gone to bat for state-level efforts to legalize gay marriage and for Planned Parenthood. And it’s clear that home in New York, Nixon is indeed a big champion of public education.

In 2009, Nixon joined Planned Parenthood in pushing legislation to force taxpayers to fund abortions. Just one week after returning to the United States from filming the sequel to the popular television franchise’s first feature film, Nixon bashed a congressman’s ban on abortion funding in Obamacare.

“It’s a very basic female right that we need to protect,” Nixon said. “What’s so frightening about this Stupak ban is that he’s found a backdoor way to basically not cover abortion for the vast majority of American women.”

Nixon, who played the character Miranda on “Sex and the City,” also bashed pro-life advocates and helped the abortion chain Planned Parenthood raise money for its billion-dollar “nonprofit.”

“… in my book, there is no organization that supports motherhood more than Planned Parenthood,” she wrote in the fundraising letter.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion chain in America, aborting about 320,000 unborn babies every year. This amounts to about one third of all abortions in the United States.

If elected, Nixon’s abortion advocacy would be little different from the current governor, Andrew Cuomo, who also has pushed abortion on demand through his political office.
