Abortion Activist: If Planned Parenthood Names a Black President You Can’t Criticize It for Aborting Black Babies

Outsiders and, for all we know, many of the insiders don’t know exactly why Cecile Richards gave up her powerful (and lucrative) position as President of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading (by a mile) abortion provider.

What we can speculate, however, is that choosing her successor might not be as simple as you would expect. PPFA has expanded its political outreach and now makes common cause with a lot of issue groups. All will want a voice in the decision-making process, no doubt many would want someone from their constituency running a $1.5 billion (with a “b”) corporation.

The Huffington Post in general, Laura Bassett in particular, are convenient outlets for whatever the abortion industry wants to trot out, including trial balloons.

Early this week, Bassett wrote a piece under the headline, “Planned Parenthood Reveals New Details On Cecile Richards’ Departure: Journalist Anna Quindlen is leading the search for Richards’ replacement.” In any organizational succession plan, you can tell a lot from who is on the search committee:

The search committee, a group of nine women and one man of diverse backgrounds, includes Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda, activist and mother of “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda; Dominican-American television journalist Carmen Rita Wong; Democratic fundraiser Aimee Boone Cunningham; and various leaders and board members at Planned Parenthood. The board has specifically instructed the committee to seek candidates who reflect Planned Parenthood’s patients, most of whom are women and roughly 40 percent of whom are people of color.

The article is interesting on many groups, and I encourage you to read it. Here’s just one, still another example of how out of touch the abortion industry is:

Imani Gandy, senior legal analyst for Rewire, specifically called for a black woman to lead the nation’s largest family planning provider, because it would defang Republicans’ charge that Planned Parenthood is racist for having clinics in predominantly black neighborhoods.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

The choice of a Black woman will lead “anti-choicers” to lapse into “cognitive dissonance,” Gandy chortles.

Excuse me? How would that “defang” the “charge” (which is not a “charge” but a fact) that PPFA places a wildly disproportionate number of abortion clinics in or nearby neighborhoods of color, Latino as well as Black?

Pro-abortionists–Black, white, Hispanic—believe in abortion. Fervently believe there is an “unmet need.” If meeting this “need” makes the already highly disproportion number of women of color getting abortions even higher than it already is, well, to the likes of Gandy that is a good thing.

Finding Richards’ replacement could well be the hottest show in New York not named “Hamilton.”
