Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown Voted to Support Unlimited Abortions Up to Birth

Last night, Sen. Sherrod Brown voted against a bill that would protect babies from the horrific violence of late-term abortions at the point that they can feel pain (20 weeks gestation!). Over 70 scientific studies support the fact that babies feel pain by this point.

That didn’t stop Sherrod Brown from putting politics before protections, though. He voted against this compassionate legislation, even when recent polling data indicates that 67% of Ohioans support this legislation. Additionally, 56% of Ohioans are less likely to vote for a senator who voted against this life-saving legislation. Sherrod Brown is out of touch with Ohioans, and his views do not represent us.

Sherrod Brown’s rejection of legislation to protect pain-capable babies is proof positive that he is far too extreme for Ohio. We cannot and will not tolerate the culture of abortion-on-demand that he wants.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act became law in Ohio in 2016. Over 20 states have passed this legislation, but that is not enough. We need this legislation at the federal level too, for this reason: the U.S. is one of only seven countries in the world that allows abortions after 20 weeks. That list includes North Korea and China, two countries for whom human rights abuses are rampant. This is NOT a list that the U.S. wants to be on.
