Three perpetrators of a gruesome crime against a young teen and her unborn baby were sentenced to prison last week in Texas.

Sharon Jones, 47, Cecilia McDonald, 28, and Cedric Jones Jr., 29, from the Dallas, Texas area, will spend five to 12 years in prison for their parts in abusing a pregnant teen and forcing her to abort her unborn child, Fox News 9 reports. They each pleaded guilty to family violence aggravated assault, a felony.

Two others also have been charged in the brutal attack on the young girl and her unborn child. The Dallas Morning News reports the girl’s brother, Robert Cayald, 24, allegedly raped her in 2012 when she was 13 years old. He faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault.

Eight months into her pregnancy from the rape, the teen’s relatives allegedly tried to force her to abort her unborn baby by taking morning after pills and cinnamon tablets. The drugs failed to kill her unborn child, so the relatives allegedly held the girl down and then kicked and punched her pregnant stomach to kill the baby, according to reports.

“They held her down. They forced her to lay there while people stomped her,” prosecutor Rachel Burris said during the sentencing hearing. “I️t was savage.”

Later, she added: “Most people would treat strangers better. Yet these people did it to someone they promised to love.”

Here’s more from the report:

“She lost a child, and no one cared,” Burris said. “That night the people who promised to love her … left her.”

After the teen gave birth in the bathtub, Cecila McDonald put the stillborn baby into a bucket, and the family tried to burn the remains on a grill. When that didn’t work, Sharon Jones gave her son $25 to take care of it. He hid the remains in a bag in an unknown location.

Defense attorneys for the trio argued that the attack was a blip in otherwise law-abiding, good lives. They said the brother and sister and their mother were trying to protect their family.

Authorities said the relatives feared that the young girl’s pregnancy would lead to an investigation by Child Protective Services and they would lose custody of other children in the home, according to Fox.

During the brutal attack, Cecilia McDonald allegedly yelled at the teen, “B—-, you ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me.”

Cayald, who allegedly raped his sister, was deemed incompetent to stand trial last year, The Sun reports.

The victim now is 19 years old and living with a foster family, according to the report.

Horrifically, abuse against women sometimes is coupled with abuse against an unborn child. Forced and coerced abortions are a problem across the world. Often in cases of sexual abuse and sex trafficking, victims are forced to abort their unborn babies by their abusers.

As LifeNews previously reported, one study found that as many as 64 percent of post-abortive women say they felt pressured to have an abortion. A survey of sex trafficking victims by the U.S. Department of State also found that many were forced by their abusers to abort their unborn babies.
