A Connecticut abortion facility charges women $2,200 out of pocket to abort unborn babies at 20 weeks of pregnancy.

That the unborn baby and mother are healthy does not matter to the Hartford Women’s Center in Hartford, Connecticut. They just require the funds.

An undercover investigator with Priests for Life and Abortion Free New Mexico recently called the abortion facility as part of a larger investigation of the late-term abortion industry in America.

In the past year, the pro-life investigators found more than two dozen abortion facilities willing to abort healthy, late-term unborn babies as late as 32 weeks of pregnancy, including facilities in New Jersey, New York, Washington, D.C., New Mexico, Washington state and Florida. Some offered women appointments as early as the next day.

When pro-life advocate Tara Shaver called the Hartford abortion facility, she said they seemed reluctant to provide information about abortion limits and costs.

Investigator: Yeah, I was wondering how far into the pregnancy you guys offer abortion services.

Clinic: You mean until we don’t offer them anymore?

Investigator: Yeah, I’m trying to find out if I can get an abortion in Connecticut if I’m 20 weeks pregnant.

Clinic: Um, [inaudible] up to … 21 weeks and 6 days.

Investigator: … Ok, well since I am 20 weeks, I was wondering, too, is it an elective procedure? Am I able to get it if I’m healthy and the pregnancy, the baby’s healthy? Is there any type of restrictions against that?

Clinic: No, it’s still, it’s considered an elective abortion.

When asked how much a 20-week abortion would cost, the clinic told her the two-day procedure to abort her unborn baby would cost $2,200 out of pocket.

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life and Bud and Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico said their investigation shows an urgent need to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

“In the 30th undercover call released by Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life, Connecticut is exposed as yet another state in America performing elective late-term abortions on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies up to 22 weeks of pregnancy,” they said.

They quoted President Donald Trump’s statements to the March for Life on Friday: “”As you all know, Roe versus Wade has resulted in some of the most permissive abortion laws anywhere in the world. For example, in the United States, it’s one of only seven countries to allow elective late-term abortions along with China, North Korea and others… It is wrong. It has to change.’

“We stand with President Trump and join him in calling upon the Senate to pass the Pain- Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and send it to his desk for signing, thereby putting an end to painful late-term abortions nationwide,” they said.

The bill, which passed the U.S. House in October, would prohibit abortions on pain-capable unborn babies beginning at 20 weeks.

By 20 weeks, strong scientific evidence indicates unborn babies can feel pain. Their major organs are functioning, they have their own unique fingerprints, and they suck their thumbs, yawn and perform other motions much like a born baby.

At this stage, unborn babies are almost fully formed and are approaching the point of viability. The youngest premature baby to survive was 21 weeks and 4 days, according to the journal Pediatrics.
