Planned Parenthood Hijacks Martin Luther King Day, Says Its Abortion Agenda “Furthers His Dream”

The abortion chain Planned Parenthood insulted the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday by claiming that their abortion work is furthering his dream.

Planned Parenthood is responsible for the deaths of millions of unborn black babies. Abortion is the top killer of black lives in America. Yet, on Monday, the abortion giant had the audacity to claim it stands with Martin Luther King Jr. as a leader in the civil rights movement, according to Breitbart.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the idea that racial and economic justice are foundational to our democracy. Today, we honor his courageous vision and radical action — and commit to furthering his dream by continuing the fight for justice,” Planned Parenthood tweeted.

The abortion chain’s version of “justice” means allowing women to abort their unborn babies for any reason up to birth, and forcing taxpayers to pay for them.

Research indicates the abortion chain also may be targeting minority women and their unborn babies. A study by Protecting Black Life found that 79 percent of Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of black and Latino neighborhoods.

Abortions hurt every race and culture, but black Americans have a disproportionately high number of abortions compared to other racial groups. According to census data, African Americans make up about 13 percent of the U.S. population but have about 30 percent of the abortions.

African-American teenage abortion rates are more than twice as high as the national average. The African American abortion rate is 41 per 1,000 women ages 15 to 19, according to a study conducted by the Guttmacher Institute. The national average abortion rate is 18 per 1,000 women ages 15 to 19.

Unborn babies are not the only ones losing their lives at Planned Parenthood. In 2014, Planned Parenthood paid a $2 million settlement to the family of a black woman named Tonya Reaves who died from a botched abortion at one of its Illinois facilities in 2012. News reports indicate that Planned Parenthood waited five hours before it sent Reaves to a local hospital emergency room for treatment. The death of another young black woman also is being investigated after she had an abortion at a Planned Parenthood in 2016 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Planned Parenthood destroys “the dream” for unborn babies and mothers, and Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and a leader in the pro-life movement, said her uncle would not have supported its work.

“He said the Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the futures of his children for immediate personal comfort and safety,” King said. “Abortion, of course, forces us to do exactly that.

“I really believe that if my uncle were here today, he would encourage us to find solutions to the problems, even women’s problems, and all problems, without having to do violence to babies in the womb. I am just convinced that he would agree with that,” she continued.
