Police in India recently charged a young man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl and then tricking her into aborting their unborn baby.
The girl’s parents, from the Lakkhipura area of India, learned of the abuse after their daughter told them that she had been tricked into having an abortion, according to the Times of India. The 14-year-old told her parents that the young man repeatedly raped her, starting in 2016.
Local police said the young man, Rizwan, allegedly filmed the girl in an “inappropriate” position and then used it to blackmail her into silence.
Here’s more from the report:
It was after she had been made to abort at a local clinic that the girl spoke to her parents about her ordeal. The girl said the accused had taken her to the doctor on the pretext of a medical check-up and later sedated her before getting the abortion done. When local residents got to know about it, they set up a kangaroo court at the panchayat [a local governing authority] to settle the matter rather than letting the girl’s family file a police complaint.
Later, a government case worker found out about the abuse and urged the girl’s family to contact police, according to the report.
“We were coerced by the family of the accused and other neighbours to settle the matter at the panchayat rather than taking it to police,” the teen’s mother said. “They offered us Rs 5 lakh (less than $1) as compensation after Rizwan raped and blackmailed my daughter. He had even taken her to a local doctor and got her to undergo an abortion, after which we got to know about the whole thing.”

All too often, an abortion is an abuse against the mother as well as her unborn child. Several studies have linked domestic violence to abortion. In such cases, some women were forced or pressured by partners into having abortions, while others believed having an abortion would help them escape abuse.
A study of sexual abuse victims who become pregnant found that the abortion only added to their trauma, according to research by the Elliot Institute.
In 2015, a sexual abuse victim told a British court that her abuser forced her to abort her unborn child. While the woman admitted that she had no desire to be a mother, she said she would not have aborted her baby – “because I didn’t want to go through all that.”
Another case in Ohio involved a 22-year-old soccer coach who was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on his team, LifeNews reported. According to reports, he statutorily raped the girl; and when she became pregnant, he took her to Planned Parenthood to abort their unborn baby.
The abortion industry has been caught numerous times failing to report suspected sex trafficking and sexual abuse of minors.
