Former Abortion Practitioner’s Heartbreaking Congressional Testimony: “I’m a Mass Murderer”

A former abortionist testified in front of a Congressional committee yesterday and shared her heartbreaking testimony about having done abortions and later having a change of heart and becoming pro-life.

Dr. Kathy Altman is an OBGYN and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists but she previously did abortions. Now that she is pro-life, she is testifying in front of Congress urging lawmakers to pass a bill that would ban abortions at 6 weeks of pregnancy after a discernible heartbeat of an unborn child can be detected.

“I love to meet adults that I delivered, but it’s always bittersweet because I am reminded of all the people I will never meet because I aborted them,” Aultman told the panel. “It also reminds me that I am a mass murderer.”

The doctor condemned abortion saying, “Because we can’t see what they will become, we sacrifice unborn babies for the people we can see. Our society has been subjected to extreme propaganda. We have sanitized our language to make abortion more palatable.”

Aultman described how she referred to unborn babies as “fetuses” when killing them in abortions but as “babies” when they were wanted and she regretted the incongruity. She also recalled the “tiny but perfectly formed limbs, intestines, kidneys, and other organs” of aborted babies — whose parts Planned Parenthood sells after abortions.

She also recalled a woman who had multiple abortions and little moral qualms with aborting another baby.

“What struck me was the apathy of the first patient and the hostility of the second towards the fetus, contrasted with the sorrow and misery of the woman who knew what it was to have a child,” Aultman testified. “I realized that the baby was the innocent victim in all of this. The fact that the baby was unwanted was no longer enough justification for me to kill it. I could no longer do abortions.”

Aultman also spoke of an adopted cousin who was conceived in rape, born in a country where abortion is illegal, and taken in by Mother Teresa and her ministry.

“Perhaps we should ask those who were conceived through rape if others like them should be denied protection,” Aultman said.

Ultimately, the doctor said abortion takes it’s toll on women — mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

“I don’t believe a woman can remain unscathed after killing her child,” she said.
