Canadian health official Sarah Hoffman wants to offer every Canadian woman and refugee free abortion drugs to kill their unborn babies.
The National Post reports Hoffman, the health minister for Alberta, said their government is working on a plan to cover the cost of abortion drugs “very soon.”
“Any women who live in Alberta — I don’t care where you live, I don’t actually care whether you’re yet a citizen — they have the right to access this,” Hoffman said.
Unlike in the United States, the abortion drugs mifegymiso only became available on the market this year in Canada. Mifegymiso is a two-drug abortion method known in the U.S. as mifepristone (RU-486) and misoprostol. The abortion drugs are responsible for killing millions of unborn babies in the United States and at least 14 women.
Alberta is one of several Canadian governments that announced plans this year to begin offering the drugs for free, covered by taxpayer dollars. The others are New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec, according to the report.

Mifegymiso, a two-drug combination that ends a pregnancy, was approved by Health Canada in July 2015, nearly 30 years after it was introduced in some European countries.
The first drug in the combination is RU-486, also called mifepristone, and was new to Canada.

After a manufacturing delay, it hit the Canadian market in January 2017, and is intended to replace one of the drugs currently used for medical abortions. It can be used up to seven weeks’ gestation. Advocates think it should be nine weeks.
As Hoffman made the announcement, a group of pro-life advocates protested outside with signs explaining the dangers of RU-486, the report states.
Stephanie Fennelly, executive director of the pro-life Wilberforce Project, said one woman from Quebec died from the drug in 2001 when it was being tested. She said it is “reckless” to promote the abortion drugs to rural women who may not have easy access to a hospital if they experience complications.
In 2012, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration report indicated that 14 women in the United States alone died from using the mifepristone abortion drug and 2,207 women were injured by it.
The dangerous RU-486 abortion drug has claimed the lives of 2 million unborn children in the United States since its approval at the end of the Clinton administration. In addition to the number of unborn children whose lives have been lost to the abortion drug, women have suffered as well, as a Planned Parenthood study admits at least one woman is seriously injured from the abortion pill daily.
Because of the high failure rate and the risks involved with RU-486 in later pregnancies, the FDA limited approval for use only in the first 49 days from the start of a woman’s last menstrual period. The Canadian government also approved the drug for the first seven weeks of pregnancy.
However, last year under pro-abortion President Barack Obama’s administration, the FDA changed its guidelines for the drug, allowing it to be used later in pregnancy and in smaller doses.
The Canadian governments’ decision likely will anger more than just pro-life advocates. Polls consistently show that most people do not want their tax dollars being used to pay for abortions.A 2015 Marist poll found that more than two-thirds of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, including a majority of women and people who identify as pro-choice. And a 2016 poll by Harvard University found just 36 percent of American voters support taxpayer funding for abortions.
