In a horrifying case of brutality, a Brooklyn man allegedly beat his 16-month-old daughter nearly to death on Father’s Day after the little girl’s mother refused to abort her.
The New York Daily News reports police charged Shaquan Taylor, 19, of Brooklyn, New York, with felony assault and other charges.
Police said Taylor requested a visit with his daughter, Nylah, on Father’s Day. It was then that he allegedly beat her until her brain began to bleed, according to police. Reports indicate Nylah also had multiple skull fractures, a black eye and bruises on various parts of her body.
On Tuesday morning, authorities said Nylah is in a coma and unlikely to survive. LifeNews could not find an update about her condition late Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Taylor urged Nylah’s mother, Tammy Lewis, to have an abortion before she was born and posted angry messages online when she refused.
In February 2016, not long before Nylah was born, Taylor wrote: “Feel mad disrespected,. Told that lil b— to get abortion (and) she tells me she is but still keep it. Exactly why I hate that lil b—.”

Despite the animosity, the dueling parents agreed that Taylor could spend some time with the tot on Father’s Day.
Sometime Sunday afternoon, Taylor sent a Facebook message to Lewis telling her there was a problem and that she needed to pick up Nylah, police sources said.
When Lewis arrived, her daughter was face up on the couch and struggling to breathe.
The 17-year-old mom grabbed Nylah and left the apartment, but Taylor caught up to her in the lobby and knocked her to the ground with one punch — while she was holding their child, sources said.
An EMS crew rushed Nylah to the hospital as Taylor chased after the baby’s mother, continuing to beat her.
Police said Taylor initially said Nylah fell off the bed, but later he changed his story. A medical examiner also said Nylah’s injuries are not consistent with a fall.

In 2015, authorities charged a Pennsylvania man after he allegedly beat and choked his pregnant girlfriend because she refused to abort their second child. A similar incident occurred in Tennessee in 2016 when a Memphis man allegedly hit and kicked his girlfriend in the head when she refused to have an abortion.
Sometimes the violence escalates to murder.
Last year, LifeNews reported a gruesome case involving a man who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend in a North Carolina park after she refused to abort their child. Late last year, a court also convicted a Maui man of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend after he allegedly pressured her to abort their unborn child.
A Brooklyn, New York man also was sentenced to 32 years in prison last year after a jury found him guilty of abortion, burglary and assault for beating his pregnant girlfriend and causing the death of their unborn child, LifeNews reported.
Domestic violence against pregnant women and their unborn babies is high. One in six women is first abused during pregnancy, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Several studies also have linked domestic violence to abortion. In these cases, some women were forced or pressured by partners into having abortions, while others believed having an abortion would help them escape abuse.
A 2011 study in The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist found that almost 40 percent of the women seeking abortions had a history of physical abuse and relationship issues.
