Women must be allowed to kill their unborn babies to achieve equality to men.
It’s a barbaric and insulting statement, but it is essentially what Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards told the liberal blog Bustle this week.
An abortion destroys the life of a unique, living human being in the womb — the woman’s own child. Yet, Richards said she believes a woman’s ability to choose abortion is “fundamental to women’s equality.”
Lauretta Brown at Townhall reported about the interview:
“Well I mean I believe that feminism is about equal rights for women,” Richards replied, acknowledging, “I think that you can personally have your own, I mean everyone does have their own feelings about pregnancy and abortion and I completely respect that but I think being a feminist is recognizing that you can’t make other people, you know, adhere to your own personal views.”
Ultimately though Richards claimed that “actually what I think is fundamental to women’s equality is being able to make their own decisions about their pregnancy and that to me is you know part and parcel to what being a feminist is about is respecting women.”
“I think one of the things that’s unfortunate in this country is for too many years there’s so much stigma for women around their reproductive lives and we need to quit doing that,” she concluded. “I think we need to let women again have access to their full range of options and again have access to affordable health care so they can be healthy, safe, and, live their best life.”

As further evidence, her abortion chain recently refused an offer to receive an increase in taxpayer funding if it stopped doing abortions. Richards called the offer “obscene and insulting,” making it very clear that abortion – the killing of unborn babies – is essential to Planned Parenthood.
But suggesting that women need abortions to be equal is what is truly obscene and insulting. Planned Parenthood is not saying that men need a medical procedure or the ability to kill their children to succeed. Why does it with women?
Women and their babies deserve so much better than the death and destruction that Planned Parenthood sells. Women are stronger and more capable than the abortion chain give them credit for. They do not need to trample on the rights of their own children to achieve success.
