Actress Jessica Chastain: I’m Successful Because of Planned Parenthood, Defunding It is a “War on Women”

The “war on women’s healthcare” is the “war” on Planned Parenthood, according to one Oscar-nominated actress. Never mind the health of unborn women destroyed in the womb. Nor the women abused by ISIS. Nor even the American girls reportedly tortured by genital mutilation.

No. The “war on women” has to do with Planned Parenthood.

On Tuesday, Variety publicized its “2017 Power of Women New York honorees” and their favorite causes. New York Bureau Chief Ramin Setoodeh interviewed one of the honorees, actress Jessica Chastain, in a piece titled, “Jessica Chastain Fights to Protect Planned Parenthood in Trump Era.”

The Zookeepers Wife actress pointed to America’s largest abortion provider as one of her favorite causes.

“That’s where I got my birth control pills” as a young woman, she told Setoodeh. “That’s where I learned about sex education. It was a very important place to me.”

Planned Parenthood, she argued, helped her succeed in life.

“I’m the first woman in my family not to have a child as a teenager,” Chastain stressed. “I’m the first one to go to college. When my grandmother was younger, she didn’t have access to birth control or sex education. My mom, the same thing.”

She (or, rather, Setoodeh) also worried about the recent push to defund Planned Parenthood.

“It’s very important in our society to protect women who financially don’t have the means to pay for healthcare, and Planned Parenthood does that,” Chastain added.

To her, attacks on Planned Parenthood translated into a “war on women’s healthcare.”

“I’m absolutely worried that if we don’t support Planned Parenthood and healthcare for women, we’ll head backward,” Chastain urged. “I guess I’m not surprised by the war on women’s healthcare. I think it’s something I’ve seen for the majority of my life.”

Besides Chastain, Variety’s other honorees included Chelsea Clinton, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Audra McDonald and Shari Redstone.

Chastain joins a long list of Hollywood celebrities in her support of Planned Parenthood. While she didn’t once use the word abortion, Planned Parenthood performed 323,999 abortions and received $553.7 million in “government health services grants and reimbursements” for the year 2014 – 2015, according to its latest annual report

Just last week, President Trump signed into law a bill that empowers states to halt hundreds of millions in Title X federal funding from Planned Parenthood and other organizations that perform abortions. Although Planned Parenthood claims abortion consists of only 3% of its services (a statistic debunked by even the liberal media), it refuses to give up the horrific practice.
