MSNBC Spreads False Rumor That Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Does Mammograms

The lie is back in circulation.

Abortion supporters once again are deceiving the public by claiming that Planned Parenthood does mammograms.

Barely a month ago, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer spread the false information on Twitter when he defended the abortion chain’s taxpayer funding.

This week, a guest commentator on MSNBC repeated the lie.

Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms, and its maternity/prenatal services are basically non-existent. The group, however, is the largest abortion provider in the U.S., performing about 320,000 abortions every year on unborn babies. It currently receives nearly half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding, but Republicans in Congress are working to change that.

But on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday, journalist Tina Brown claimed that Planned Parenthood does mammograms, PJ Media reports.

She and host Mika Brzezinski discussed President Donald Trump and women’s issues when the topic of Planned Parenthood came up:

BRZEZINSKI: “So he has been holding these events at the White House. There have been at least three that I’ve noticed but I think there have been more, where he has room full of women talking about access to capital and I think Ivanka is sort — is — well, I know for a fact Ivanka is trying to set up a real kind of arm of the White House that will focus on these issues. Do that make any difference at all?”
BROWN: “Well here’s the problem. You can’t really talk about empowering women and lifting women up at the same time as taking away their ability to go to a clinic and have a mammogram —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Right.”
BROWN: “— which is what happens if you start — you know if you defund Planned Parenthood. How empowering is it to die of breast cancer —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Right.”
BROWN: “— or cervical cancer if you can’t get yourself checked out at a local clinic which is what is going to happen to all the hard pressed women who use the Planned Parenthood facilities to actually get women’s checks. You know, this is going to end.”

Interestingly, Brown later said it is “wonderful” how the press is fact checking politicians’ statements and holding them accountable. MSNBC did not fact check Brown’s false statements about Planned Parenthood, however.

In 2015, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards admitted to U.S. Congress that her abortion group does not do mammograms. Her statement came after a 2012 investigation by Live Action exposed the lie about Planned Parenthood and mammograms.

The Federalist reported the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists 8,735 licensed mammography facilities in America on its website, but Planned Parenthood does not operate any of them. View their list by clicking here.

In January, Live Action exposed another Planned Parenthood lie about prenatal care.

Leaders of the abortion group claimed on multiple occasions that women depend on Planned Parenthood for prenatal care, among other things. CEO Cecile Richards once said, “Breast cancer screenings, cervical cancer screenings, prenatal care – these are the kinds of services that folks depend on Planned Parenthood for.”

But prenatal care is virtually non-existent at Planned Parenthood. Of the 97 facilities that Live Action called or visited, only five offered some form of prenatal care or a referral for it.

Many Planned Parenthood facilities – including every single one in Pennsylvania – advertised prenatal services online but did not actually provide them. As a result of the investigation, dozens of the abortion group’s facilities removed prenatal services from their websites, LifeNews reported.

Planned Parenthood’s own numbers show that for pregnant women, abortion is its No. 1 service by a huge margin. According to its most recent annual report, Planned Parenthood did 323,999 abortions and provided 17,419 prenatal services.

As LifeNews.com reported, President Donald Trump recently offered to increase Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding if it stopped aborting babies and started focusing on legitimate, non-abortion healthcare. Planned Parenthood refused.
