The Attorney General in California has charged pro-life activist David Daleiden with 15 felonies for his investigative work exposing the Planned Parenthood abortion business and its sales of aborted baby parts.

Not surprisingly, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the Planned Parenthood abortion company.

As LifeNews.com reported today, Becerra slammed pro-life undercover investigator David Daleiden with 15 felony charges on Tuesday, claiming he illegally recorded Planned Parenthood abortion workers and groups that distribute aborted babies’ body parts.

Becerra, a Democrat, announced the charges Tuesday against Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress. Daleiden and CMP fired back with a new video exposing Planned Parenthood.

California requires that both parties consent to be recorded. Becerra alleges that Daleiden and Merritt broke the law by filming their conversations with abortionists and others without their consent, according to the report.

But reports from the center for responsive politics show Planned Parenthood has been a long time contributor to Becerra’s campaigns.

The Planned Parenthood abortion business gave Becerra $1,000 in 2014, $2,000 in 2012, $500 in 2004, $1,000 in 2002, and $1,035 in 1998.

When pro-abortion Governor Jerry Brown name Becerra to the Attorney General post, the Planned Parenthood abortion company was delighted.

Statement from Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

“Planned Parenthood Federation of America applauds Gov. Brown’s appointment of Rep. Xavier Becerra as California’s Attorney General. Rep. Becerra is a long-time champion for women’s reproductive rights and health. As a former California Deputy Attorney General, he understands the importance of a woman’s right to access the full range of health care, including safe, legal abortion. At a time when reproductive health is gravely under attack in states across the country,  we need leaders like Rep. Becerra to be responsible stewards of the law and protect the rights of millions of Americans, including the 850,000 California women, men and families that Planned Parenthood serves every year.

The Center for Medical Progress responded on Tuesday by calling the charges “bogus.”

“The public knows the real criminals are Planned Parenthood and their business partners,” Daleiden’s group said in a statement. “We look forward to showing the entire world what is on our yet-unreleased videotapes of Planned Parenthood’s criminal baby body parts enterprise, in vindication of the First Amendment rights of all.”

In 2016, Daleiden and Merritt were indicted by a tainted grand jury on similar charges, which were later dismissed after evidence surfaced that the Harris County District Attorney’s office had colluded with Planned Parenthood for political reasons to turn the grand jury against the pro-life activists.

“Just as corruption was involved in the last attempt to falsely charge David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, I predict that corruption is at the heart of these California charges as well. It is despicable that the California Attorney General charged innocent whistleblowers with felonies instead of the career criminals at Planned Parenthood. This is the ultimate abuse of power and tyranny. The Planned Parenthood butchers have committed tens of thousands of felonies by illegally selling baby’s body parts for profit,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue who also served as a founding member of the board for the Center for Medical Progress.

Newman was not mentioned in the charging documents.

Newman told LifeNews.com he believes that the California charges are in retaliation to criminal referrals of several Planned Parenthood organizations to the U.S. Department of Justice by the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives.

“We call on U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to aggressively prosecute Planned Parenthood and their partners in the illegal aborted baby parts trade,” said Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Vice President of Operation Rescue. “We ask that Attorney General Sessions resist any intimidation by California authorities who are simply acting as Democratic operatives on a political agenda to thwart any prosecution of Planned Parenthood.”
